This album is more of a remix than a remaster. The hard panning is softened and a light reverb fills out the stereo field. The bass frequencies are isolated and center panned. An overall EQ is applied and finally dynamics processing was applied.
The performances on this album are phenomenal. Bill Evans on piano, Eddie Gomez on Bass and Jack DeJohnette on Drums are all brilliant. What I originally found striking on this album was Eddie Gomez’s sound. -very spiky with lots of click and snap. The hard pan made it a little uncomfortable to listen to, especially with headphones. After applying all my sonic changes the bass solos and overall bass performance was a lot more enjoyable to listen to for me.
